A Bear-able Life
Hi. I'm the kid down the street.
Everyone laughs at me
Everyday I wear black,
Whenever I talk to people
I'm not loved by anyone.
I cry because I cut myself Gosh, life would be really depressing if it wasn't for a little Pooh. This is a poem Alex wrote in November of 2007 for his 11th grade English class. In his own words: “The behavior I chose to criticize is the emo depression and “Everyone hates me” attitude. I chose to criticize this behavior because I find it ridiculous. Anyone who acts like that and thinks that no one likes them is clearly kidding themselves. The two techniques that I chose were Hyperbole and Incongruity. Hyperbole in the way that life is not that bad for anyone. Incongruity in the way lines about the Pooh bear are completely out of place. People should not act like that. They should try to find the happiness in all forms of life.” |
