The obligatory ‘Before’ picture of
our kitchen. Please note the ugly neon ceiling lights, the yellowed
floor, and the patched kitchen cabinet at floor level, just to the
right of the stove.

Another ‘Before’ of the kitchen, this
time of the sink, showing off the ugly white tile countertops and
badly stained window sill. Also take a moment to appreciate the
custom blinds, courtesy of the cats.

The master bathroom ‘Before’ picture.
Notice how the builder cleverly shoe-horned a four foot bathtub into
a six foot space.

Kitchen demolition completed, except for some kid
that we couldn't get to leave…

Painting the kitchen — Round #1. Batteship
grey primer in honor of Mary's naval heritage.

|
Painting the kitchen — Round #2. Cream on
the ceiling and sofit, with a green on the walls somewhere between
jade and olive green. Alex left his ‘fish’ in one of the
grey areas that the new cabinets will cover, so that future owners
will wonder what kind of loonies lived here.

The kitchen floor after they refinished
it. The change from the orignal dingy, yellowed, and badly stained
wood to this absolutely gorgeous natural hardwood was stunning. We
still find it hard to believe it's the same floor!

|
Presto! The dining room is now a kitchen! Not a
very good one, but a kitchen nonetheless. If you suspect this drives
my beautiful bride absolutely ballistic…you're right.

If you close your eyes and imagine real
hard…this is a shower. Or, more accurately, it will be a shower
at some as-of-yet-undetermined point in the future.

Bathroom v1.1—the wrong color.
(Burgundy on the accent wall and pink everywhere else.)

Bathroom v1.2—the right color.
(Chocolate brown on the accent wall and champagne everywhere else.)

Our lovely, ramshackle, about-to-be-demolished,
illegal deck. Say good night, Gracie.

The first 'After' of the kitchen, with
all of the appliances in place and working for the first time since
early August.

The 'After' picture of the bathroom,
prominently featuring the new bathtub, which is named “Clayton”.
